I went to see Dr. Khalili when my BPH issue was getting worse and the side effects of medication became intolerable. Getting an appointment with him was not easy, but once you are there, you are in the hands of a consummate professional.
After detailed discussion and tests, he recommended Aquablation, a relatively new minimally invasive procedure that seems superior to laser surgery. I went for it, and the result was perfect. Problem solved as if I went back in time 20 years.
The inconvenience (hospital procedure, one-night hospital stay, catheter for 3 days, gradual recovery for another 10 days) was completely tolerable. No pain or lasting effects of any kind.
When I researched Dr. Khalili before going there, all the reviews were extremely positive. The only negative remarks were made about the staff not being friendly. My own experience is that the staff were polite, responsive, and efficient. If the original complaints were valid, something must have been done about it and it worked.
Dr. Khalili is also a warm and engaging person, which matters if you go through months of interaction about a critical issue as I did. His clear mastery of the field puts you at ease. His skill and attention to detail are remarkable.
Dr. Khalili once joked during an exchange with me that "nothing in his work is pleasant", referring to the nature of a urologist work. Well, something in his work is very pleasant: the result.
